Cernious was founded in 2009 to focus on developing enterprise-class certainty solutions. Specifically, Cernious has developed a core technology that enables businesses to filter out nefarious behavior emanating from malicious, automated programs: bots and their distributed variant, botnets.

Cernious' headquarters are in Naperville, Illinois with operations in Gainesville, Florida and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jason Koziol has more than 15 years of entrepreneurial and commercial software development experience, especially security solutions that preserve the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. Jason began his career as a senior developer and lead on genetic algorithms for SAP AG, where he designed application components to mitigate security issues with legacy systems, core R/3 databases, and extensions to the mysap.com web portal. In addition, Jason conducted a formal analysis of core R/3 code to ensure the software included no embedded viruses or malware. Jason also designed encryption and security solutions for a turnkey low-latency trading platform at Trading Systems Consultants

Jason has significant experience developing multiple products based on artificial intelligence concepts such as neural networks and genetic algorithms, applying these algorithms to harden commercial software in financial services and digital security – and subsequently creating new products to address shortfalls in the market place, including bot-resistant human verification systems at the heart of Cernious' solution portfolio.

Anthony Koziol, co- Founder and CTO

Anthony Koziol has more than 10 years of experience in commercial software development and digital security management, specifically in protecting personally identifiable information and medical records in highly regulated industries. Anthony has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Florida, where he was an early contributor to the field of distributed and parallel computing in partnership with the National Science Foundation.

Anthony has parlayed his vast professional software development experience to lead development and architecture of Cernious' anti-bot solutions and foundational technologies. While at Cernious, he became an expert on bot behavior and trends in bot capabilities, has created Cernious' core security model, is a co-contributor in the development of various bot-resistant security solutions.

Previous to founding Cernious, Anthony was an innovative software developer and enterprise technology manager for operations in the highly regulated industries of insurance and health care, including OandP.com and QuickQuote. Inc. In the early days of the internet, he developed custom security solutions protecting payment transactions and sites from nescient bot-initiated spam attacks. In addition, he oversaw development, implementation, and continual management of data protection protocols for personally identifiable information and medical records to comply with federal regulations such as HIPPA --- including sensitive data traversing the internet between trusted third party business partners for real-time business processes. His responsibilities in enterprise security management included network security, threat assessments, environment hardening, application and workstation security, and security vulnerability testing.

Anthony is a member of the Association of Computing Machines and a past member of the IEEE.

Tim Brown has more than 18 years of experience in strategic business management, specifically in business strategy, business operations, product development, and new market development. Tim also has significant experience in assessing the business impact of security threats and deploying industry-standard intra- and inter- organizational security practices, procedures, and protocols including those proscribed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). Prior to Cernious, Tim served in senior management roles for several successful startups and mature businesses, including as CEO of iTOKhelp.com, VP of Strategy and Operations at DirectPointe, and SVP of Operations and CTO at Mstar.net. Tim was also a senior consultant at Diamond Management and Technology Consultants, a business strategy firm working for such clients as Visa USA, Visa International, Dana Commercial Credit, Ben Franklin, and US Cellular. Tim has a B.A. in Mathematics and M.S. in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Tim is a member of the Utah Technology Council and serves on their public policy committee.
